WASTE
MANAGEMENT
The
commitment to environmental stewardship is unequivocal.
As responsible citizens of the Global Community we realize
the absolute need to conserve resources and to protect
our physical surroundings. Drawing upon the tragedies
of the past, we now comprehend the irreparable damage
that has been done and as Oscar Wilde said “Experience
is the name we give to our mistakes”. Mistakes are
unfortunate. Not to learn from the mistakes of others
is tragic.
Waste generation is a reality we cannot simply accept.
Through our efforts to minimize waste, where practicable,
and our obligation to control what we do produce, we can,
and must, make a difference. In fact, our dedication must
go beyond simple regulatory compliance.
This program discusses various Waste Management Programs
and geographical locations. As such, it integrates applicable
regional requirements/standards. Incorporating topics
that foster an awareness of those requirements/standards
the program strives to ensure that requisite competencies
are met. Obvious competencies include, but are not limited
to knowledge of standards and the Waste Management Plan,
the ability to recognize hazardous and non-hazardous waste
and knowledge of individual responsibilities.
