Offshore Training Program
Safety and Survival Training Division

Basic Offshore Safety Induction And Emergency Training

Successful completion of this course will enable participants to react in a correct manner during an emergency situation and to take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of those involved. This course provides competency based training as accredited by the Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization (OPITO) for Basic Offshore Safety Induction utilizing modules from the following programs:

• Sea Survival
• Firefighting Initial Response, Extinguisher
• Breathing Apparatus/Self Rescue
• Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (Passenger)
• Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS)

Note: For Norwegian OLF certification the St. John Ambulance Emergency First Aid/CPR is required in addition to the BOSIET

Length of Course: Three (3) days
Prerequisites: Copy of valid offshore medical certificate and current passport.

Required PPE: Enclosed footwear, clean coveralls, towels, change of clothes and safety footwear

• Fire Prevention
• Firefighting Equipment (Extinguishers, Hoses And Nozzles)
• Firefighting (Practical Exercises)
• Evaluation

BREATHING APPARATUS/SELF RESCUE
• Introduction To Breathing Apparatus/Self Rescue
• Gas Detection
• Respiratory Protection
• Search And Rescue
• Practical Exercises
• Evaluation

HELICOPTER UNDERWATER ESCAPE TRAINING
• Introduction And Safety
• Helicopter Characteristics
• Passenger Responsibilities
• Helicopter Emergencies
• Escape Skills
• Emergency Breathing System (EBS)
• Practical Exercises
• Evaluation

CERTIFICATION
• Participants completing all applicable course modules will receive a certificate of achievement.
